Start with the kids' ages
A resort that is perfect for toddlers can bore a teenager. Kids clubs usually have age ranges, and some have separate teen areas. Check the ages each program accepts and whether it costs extra.
The room matters more than you think
- Family suites or connecting rooms give everyone space and better sleep.
- Check how many people a room really sleeps, including cribs or rollaways.
- Ground-floor or pool-near rooms can be easier with little ones.
What “all-inclusive” covers
Meals, snacks and drinks are usually included, along with pools and some activities. Extras often include certain restaurants, spa visits, motorized water sports, off-site tours and airport transfers. Every resort is different, so I check the details before you book.
When to go
School breaks are the busiest and most expensive weeks. If your schedule allows, early December, January after the holidays, and late spring are often worth comparing. Hurricane season matters for the Caribbean and Mexico, roughly June through November.
What I handle for you
I compare resorts that match your kids' ages and budget, check room layouts and what is included, and plan flights and transfers from Nashville or wherever you are leaving from.
